Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer The Buckingham Murders released in theatres on September 13, 2024. Directed by Hansal Mehta, the crime thriller film received tremendous positive reviews from the critics as well as the audience. Kareena has impressed the audience again with her another powerful performance. The movie also stars Keith Allen, Ranveer Brar, Prabhleen Sandhu, Sanjeev Mehra, and Ash Tandon.
BollywoodLife spoke to director Hansal Mehta about his latest directorial venture. We asked him his thoughts on the movie receiving such great reviews. Mehta said, “Every time a film is released, we are always curious to know how people are going to respond to the movie. I’m really happy with the response. All the effort and love that we’ve put in this film is being appreciated and loved so much.”
This is the first time Hansal Mehta and Kareena Kapoor Khan have collaborated for a movie. The movie-going audience was curious to see what they had in store, as both are known for delivering amazing stories. When asked what made him believe that Bebo is an apt choice to shoulder the movie, the Aligarh director said, “I always felt that Kareena is vastly underrated and underutilised star. As a star, she is a big star and as an actor, she has a lot to offer. I’m glad she took on this part.”
Mehta added, “This is not your regular, commercial, conventional Bollywood film. It is not a star vehicle. But she took on this film, took on the character. It’s an unusual setting. She took on all that. I mean, she made the character her own. She is an incredible actor and an incredible co-worker.”
With Hansal Mehta’s The Buckingham Murders, Kareena Kapoor Khan also made her debut as a producer. We asked Hansal his thoughts on Kareena debuting as a producer for his movie, The director stated it happens when a person believes in something, and the fact that she chose this movie shows the belief she had in it. “I hope she continues doing this. This is just the beginning,” Hansal said.

In future, would he like to collaborate with the Kareena again? The director hopes they find the right script to come together again. “Well, the story has to come. I must have a story, which both of us should like. All I can say is that I would love to work with her. It was an absolute joy to be with her on set and to direct her. I would like that opportunity again and again.”
